Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor when she was six. For several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing dance, acting and singing. The actress had performed in several Stagecoach or school shows when she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times, she as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film was also one of the top-rated films during 2001. Opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British publication, has praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma received five awards for her performance in the movie.
