Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21, 1983. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out high school in order to move into Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. Her first role came to her as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time financially. The film for television Murder in Greenwich where she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She was the main character for two seasons and also won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was keen to pursue film following her role as Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. The actress was as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. In 2008, she played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to Shannon's character on Lost for two more episodes, including the final episode of the series. She appeared in 2013's seventh season Californication. She plays Faith as an admirer and muse to the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the daughter and older sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was an early teenager, when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed from her father. She also worked with her brother in 2001's popular movie Donnie Darko. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her leading performances in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) each of which resulted in the Golden Globe Award nomination. After a string of commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). As an unmarried mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in the film Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). The debut of Gyllenhaal as a filmmaker and writer was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama for which she received the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also won an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
